David Hume 1711-76

Congenial skeptic in the empiricist tradition.
There is no impression of the self (or thinking substance) all there is, is a bundle or collection of perceptions.

Locke argued experiences were caused by the physical objects, Hume questioned how this claim could be justified by experience?
You only have the effects of the objects, no experience of objects or causes you only have the ideas of the object. A consistent empiricst must give up the casual theory of precption, the notion of physical objects, hullinations real experiencs.
We're not able to justify fundamental belief's with reason or empiricism.
